Elixir d'Anvers
Elixir d'Anvers is an iconic Belgian liqueur, produced since 1863 in the historic distillery in Antwerp. Its unique herbal flavor is cherished worldwide, and production takes place in a monumental building, deeply connected to the city's heritage. The challenge for this project was to implement a modern HVAC solution in an old, delicate structure without compromising the character of the distillery.
Prihoda’s Lightweight and Flexible HVAC Solution for the Elixir d'Anvers Distillery
Due to the age and structure of the distillery, a light and subtle solution was needed to manage both heating and cooling without jeopardizing the building’s integrity. Prihoda’s fabric ducts provided the perfect solution: lightweight, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing.
Key system specifications:
Double units, double challenge: The project’s unique challenge was the installation of two units, one above the other. This required a creative air distribution approach. Prihoda designed a custom solution to accommodate this configuration without compromising airflow and temperature regulation.
Light construction, ideal for older buildings: Prihoda’s fabric ducts are made of standard PMS fabric, which is not only durable but also extremely lightweight. This makes them ideal for the historic structure of the distillery, unlike heavier metal systems.
Efficient air distribution for heating and cooling: The system is designed to provide both heating and cooling, ensuring an optimal climate year-round, which is essential for production and employee comfort.
Aesthetic suspension system: A rail suspension system was chosen, offering a clean, aesthetic finish that complements the authentic interior of the distillery. This discreet solution minimizes visual disruption while preserving the historic charm of the building.
Plenum and half-round form rings: A plenum was used to ensure even air distribution throughout the space, while half-round form rings help maintain the shape and efficiency of the fabric ducts.
Custom 35-degree bends: To accommodate the complex layout of the space, 35-degree custom bends were installed, allowing smooth airflow through the ducts and optimal unit performance.
Thanks to Prihoda’s custom solution, the Elixir d'Anvers distillery now benefits from an efficient, flexible HVAC system that provides both heating and cooling while preserving the building’s historical character.
